Home is where the Heart is...

and for now that is Arizona. While it was hard to leave family and friends in California, it was nice to know we had our home, family & friends here in Arizona to come back to. While we are still trying to get unpacked and settled, we do feel "at home" and that is the most important part.

My dad helped us load the U-Haul and make the trip across the desert yet ANOTHER time - in case you lost track, that would be 4 times...GOD love that man for everything he has done for us, including this move (loading and unloading, packing and unpacking are a nightmare and it's not even his stuff but he helped without a single complaint.) And GOD love Carol, Bryan's mom, for all the days she came over to watch the kids so I could make all the arrangements to get us moved (utilities, car ins, health ins, etc) I know the kids loved having her and it was a great help for me.

We left later than we wanted on Nov 8 but after dinner at my grandparents (THANKS!), naps in the Denny's parking lot in Blythe (me and dad, Bryan had breakfast), sleeping children almost the entire drive and a near miss of getting a photo radar ticket on the 10-101 interchange, we made it to Anthem and pulled into our driveway around 5:30am (we lost an hour as soon as we crossed the Arizona border.) Of course the adults were exhausted and the kids were wide awake, so I took the kids into the master suite and shut the door to keep them contained while I struggled to keep my eyes open and dad and Bryan slept on the floor in the other 2 rooms.

Bryan went back to work at Trader Joe's the day after we got here. He loves his store and they are already campaigning to get him back into full-time and management. We'll see what happens.

Keira & I are both missing the workout with our stroller strides friends and I'm trying to get back into a routine here, find Keira a preschool, unpack, get ready for the holidays etc.

The kids are adjusting. Keira loves her "blue room" and is happy to show everyone around our house so be ready for a tour when you come visit. We are trying to get the bonus room turned into a playroom but that is going to be a bigger undertaking than we expected...stay tuned for photos of that project.

Here are some photos from the move and our first few weeks in AZ.
